I remember 25 years ago in late October thinking the fire season was over, and then Laguna Beach burned to the ground so I never think fire season is over anymore until Thanksgiving. Right now we have Santa Ana winds hitting the Southland, so crossing my fingers once again.

Yup. But the Santa Ana Winds hit Southern California in Oct./Nov. and are expected. Fire season in the North Valley and foothills is usually done by now. When I was taking fire classes at Butte College, they started in October because seasonal firefighters were released then.
