This powerful observation reminds us all that antiretroviral therapy is one of the great miracles of ID therapeutics. That HIV treatment also completely prevents transmission makes it even more remarkable. Very grateful!

Excellent summary. And amazing what senior medical residents do in their "free" time. 😄

With all the uncertainties in the outbreak, one thing is very much certain -- the pace of scientific discovery and communication is extraordinarily fast. Huge difference from SARS in 2002/3. (h/t for assembling these links.) Latest post:

Haven't heard this one in a while. The dreaded "mycin" allergy -- even less specific than the "floxin" or "cillin" allergy! (Shared with consulter's permission.)

Telemedicine, eConsults, etc make tons of sense in ID, and can be GREAT for patient care--but it has to be supported, which is a big challenge in a system still dominated by fee-for-service payments. Latest post:

Hey , do you currently do "eConsults" or provide telemedicine services for patients you have never seen for a face-to-face visit? Can be for other clinicians, or directly to patients, or both. Take the poll, then explain why or why not. Thanks!

Congratulations! So well deserved. I very nearly went into Cardiology* because of Jim -- such a great clinical teacher, he made everything so clear, interesting, and engaging! (*It's true: )

If you asked 100 different clinicians about diagnosing and treating neurosyphilis, you might get 100 different answers. Here's a chance to weigh in on a particularly tricky (and common!) case scenario. Latest post:
