I found it difficult coming to my decision to vote yes. Ultimately I found my position that life was equal fine in theory but when applied to the practicality of women’s lives, it became cruel and unfeeling. Particularly when applied to the lives of women I know #WhoNeedsYourYes

South William Street tonight. I really understand the frustration of people but this picture doesn't look like anyone there is "halfing the number of close contacts they had last week"
Honestly as we approach June and July and large numbers of people are due to be offered a first dose...Isn't it time we considered decommissioning NPHET.

In the past 10 days has represented Ireland in Paris London and Washington with real decency. Like anyone he'll be disappointed not to meet President Biden in person but he doesn't get hung up on those things, For him it's always been about the work.
Without the special criminal court there would be ordinary Dubliners heading in to a jury room today with legitimate fears of intimidation from gangland criminals. We've voted to renew this court to protect citizens. Dail votes often seem abstract but they have a real impact.
As I said this week, the tools we used last year will not work this summer. We need to decommission them and instead use strong clear easily followed public health messaging. With many first dose vacinated and young people less anxious about vulnerable relatives, we must pivot.
Brilliant protest in Lisbon, Portugal. Wheelchair parked with notes on them "be right back" "just getting something"
Amazing that a newspaper feels its OK to publish this horrible take down of women based on appearance and clothing. No wonder most people are reluctant to enter public life! Many FF members asking me why twitter isnt in meltdown as it rightly would be for women in any other party
After a lifetime working in Guinness for his family which he saw stretch over four generations, my Grandfather Dan McAuliffe passed away yesterday aged 94. We had a special day together this summer as he went back to Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam
I should say that @SenLynnRuane hasn't sought my endorsement but on the TCD ballot her name stands out. She was a consistent presence at events I hosted in the Mansion House. Events where people often felt stigmatised and left out. Her presence there meant a lot to them and me.
Obviously the 'click bait' phenomenon is now embedded in print journalism too. Pornography is not going to be 'studied' in school. We are going to equip young people to have positive and happy relationships, to understand the online world and to understand themselves.

A very emotional evening last night being elected . I felt like giving everyone in the city a hug but I'll never forget this one with my Mam Gina. I'm looking forward to starting my official duties on Monday morning #DubMayor350
We build the case for a united Ireland by creating a shared Island. One doesn't necessarily lead to the other but it makes this place we call home a better place for all of us to live. Dropping a few lyrics isn't a great sacrifice to make others feel included and part of us.

The idea that NPHET recommendations are known on twitter and media before they are even sent to government is just no way for nphet to do business. Ministers should not be reading advice from their public health advisors for the first time on social media.

The Govt has yet to receive a letter from the @CMOIreland regarding the latest recommendations from NPHET on further restrictions due to #COVID19 @rtenews
Following my meeting with last week and after further research, I have today written to the Minister regarding the Shannon LNG project.
Not only did Sinn Fein vote against 853 public homes on Oscar Traynor tonight, they voted against a deal better than their 2015 and 2019 proposals.

I want to thank for talking time out to speak with me about how I can use my influence to push for more immediate action. It was fascinating to see the movement at work from the inside. I'm a small cog in a greater national response put I pledged to play my part.
A bit surprised at this tweet. Using unkind caricatures is just being nasty dressed up as humour. Portraying a party leader as a witch or a cartoon villain is something id expect from a party troll not an oireachtas member. Particularly one with such ability.

Micheál Martin in total denial about housing, health & cost of living crises in Leaders Questions today.
Like Mr Burns, he is detached from reality, out of touch & out of ideas…#Time4Change
This will most likely make twitter go mad but worth noting in today's poll
📊More people support government parties than opposition parties. 47% to 44%
📊More people support FF and FG than SF 43% to 35%
📈 peoples satisfaction in government is up 9 percentage points.
Today I will be nominated to be the 350th and with the support of my fellow , councillors, I hope to be elected. I look forward to leading Dublin as it tackles #Housing, #PublicTransport, #Inequality, #MentalFitness and #ClimateAction.
Yesterday I said goodbye to my colleagues on as I stepped down as the 350th . To everyone who was part of my term, thank you for allowing me to be your Lord Mayor. I hope I never let you down. 😪 #DubMayor350 ➡️ #DubMayor351 Tom Brabazon

There was nothing slick or heroic about An Taoiseach waiting his turn for the COVID vaccine. It was just the right thing to do. Something I see him do often.
A lot of people listening to this morn will appreciate the genuine effort being made by a man who finds himself governing in the uncertainty of a pandemic and making decisions that impact us all. It's clear hes driven by his honesty and humanity

Lots of talk about FF keeping SF out of Government even though SF can form a government without FF or FG. To me it looks like they are trying to create a narrative where their failure to persuade other parties is some how FF's fault. If you have the numbers get on with it.
We wouldn't tolerate a road being unpassable and we can't tolerate a cycle lane either. Residents on Griffith Ave have long been swamped with tons of leaves each autumn, its not an easy task but path and cycle lanes must be kept clear by
Such a difficult day yesterday for the community of Dublin West. For family, neighbours, gardai and shop staff. It's not helpful for Twitter and particularly elected reps to speculate prior to an independent investigation. For now, let's give them all some respect and space
This kind of dishonest presentation is the real issue many have with current day SF. So in CSC SF got 24%. FF got 35%. FF+FG got 56%, double the SF mandate and the new government 65%. Yet they say "broadly rejected" can you describe it as anything other than a lie? 1/2

Looking at the Late Late and I just want to say how proud everyone in Finglas is of our fellow Finglas man as he heads up the HSE team along with the frontline staff and everyone across the country in the battle against #COVID19
Have a look at the views and interactions on these two posts, all be it on different platforms. This is a good example of how eye catching content seems to win out over factual content. It's a real issue for our democracy and reinforces the need to have trusted independent media
As I get ready this morning to leave the house to start my new role as I'm thinking of the many carers who are often isolated in their home. Carers and Home Help workers do an amazing job and save the state millions with the work they do. #CarersWeek #carers
Tonight's documentary on the kidnapping of Don Tidey and the murder of those protecting Ireland reminds us how dark a time the 1980s was in Ireland and how the lives of innocent people were devastated by savage acts of brutality that had nothing to do with British occupation.
As I sat in the Chamber yesterday. I heard MLMcD accuse me of being part of the elite, of protecting the 1%, of not being on the peoples side. She isnt right but the more we reject it the more she says we are excluding. She was only short of saying drain the swamp.

The expulsion of diplomats should only happen when there is a fundamental breakdown of relationships and where those contacts will not be useful to improve relationship. Ireland must defend the principal of sovereignty. We must expel the Russian ambassador.
On the way to the RDS with all the family. Reports indicate that I have topped the poll. I'm so overwhelmed thank you, thank you.
My condolances to the family of Cormac OBraonain and his friends & Cormac dropped in to the Mansion House on Sat for the #LiveCrib and we chatted about the #AntiRacismMarch he was heading to. His bright broad smile will be hard to forget by those who knew him

So today Sinn Fein admitted they have created a database recording if people have voted or not in a central searchable database for multiple constituencies. No other political party holds this. The state does not hold it and all without the knowledge or permission of voters.1/2

While tomorrow's #Solidarity #IrelandForAll event may be organised by parties/groups condemning government, its important the far right understand that racism and hate is rejected by a far greater number and by supporters of all parties in Oireachtas #SayNoToRacism
I despair at headlines like this. It could as easily say SF fail to persuade other parties to support their candidate. Instead it suggests they have some special rights beyond their size or that they are subjected to a different process than other parties. Both of arn't true. 🙄

A Green Party minister has signalled the reintroduction of water charges could be on the cards amid concerns over Irish Water's ability to carry out its work programme and with Dublin's supply "teetering on the brink".

My kids have a credit union account that their grandad had setup and they came under PEP guidelines. I presume it's to prevent politicians using their children's accounts to hide corrupt payments. The more transparency the better I feel.

On week on and still waiting for @RevolutApp to get back to me and what is with the amount of information they have on people. Why do you need to know if I’m related to a 10 year old child. And is it appropriate?
I understand the HSE has made a decision to close a school in the Dublin 9 area. Parents have been contacted and I have also contacted the school concerned to see how I can be of assistance. This is a public health issue and we are best following the HSE's advice closely.
Fianna Fail are fully committed to a united Ireland, through exclusively peaceful means, honouring the principle of consent and ensuring parity of esteem. To achieve it we must work hard to share this island with those who disagree with us. Thats the job Hume and Mallon left us.
I want to thank Ballymun Office for agreeing to my request to erect flags across the area. They look amazing. We might not be able to be there in person but we are all behind you lads.
On Capel Steet trial, I expect the steps ahead are to report the trial data and make a recommendation to Councillors. The trial ending doesn't have to mean the end of the traffic free scheme but rather the justification and decision to make it permenent. 300k people have spoken.
Next stop D watch in Phibsborough to meet with officers on duty. As im always proud to support all our frontline council staff. The watch had just returned from an incident where a pregnant lady had been knocked down by a scrambler bike 😡😡

The Tooth Fairy 🧚♀️ made a visit to the last night. I'd say it's been a while since it was on her list. For the record the new venue did not result in an increase. 😂😂
It pains me to see these shocking scenes from Grafton Street today. These gatherings are totally wrong in the context of a public health emergency. The analysis of this event will come in the coming days but for now I'm calling on people to leave this area of the city and go home
The final task of #GE2020 a No.1 vote for a new TD and a new Government. Our constituency will be very tight and regardless of the result, It has been my pleasure to represent my neighbours and friends. Most of all I want to thank my family for letting me peruse this madness.

I am calling the government to clarify and amend the list of essential retail outlets to allow bicycle repairs to take place on a drop off and collection basis. The current guidelines are not clear.

Importantly, I was not 'slagging' NPHET. Nor calling for them to be disbanded. There was a time for prescriptive, regulations but once large numbers are vaccinated we need to decommission those tools used earlier in the pandemic. Overly complex rules will see less adherence
The hardly need me rowing in to defend them in the pile-up on waste but you have to ask the question do those hurling half truths seriously think we can continue to produce and consume in the volumes we do or are we going to be #climatebrave and make changes.
If there ever was a war on drugs, we've lost it. We cannot keep criminalising addiction. We need trauma informed communities, to hold the citizens assembly and to work with families and communities in advance of that.
Today I stood with Mayors from across Europe to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the fall of the #BerlinWall. Those in the GDR tore down their wall and gave us a new Europe. We must ensure new borders and walls are not created on our island or our continent. #mauerfall30
So this morning the officially reopened after 3 weeks of repairs. The first group which I decided to host was Lollipoppers from all over the city. These women and men do an amazing job, they look after our children and they care about each and every little child.
A decade representing my own community on has been inspiring and exhausting in equal measure but I've loved every minute of it. But by far the best thing about this decade are these two little rascals. #cityfather
Thanks to all the LeavingCert students who joined my zoom call tonight to talk about their experience. I've heard from Ministers, teachers and parents but the student's perspective carries most weight with me and its time we moved to calculated grades with an option to sit. 1/3

It was great to welcome members of to last night to thank them for their donation to the city of the Lord Mayors bicycle. I was delighted to open the challenge to each councillor there to take the bike into their community to promote cycling.
A significant number of TDs walked out tonight when the offences against the state act was being renewed. The Bill prevents intimidation of jurors and witnesses by gangland crime gangs and terrorist groups. My community sees this first hand and yet some

At the end of a long day but what a tremendous team. Today alone we have knocked on an incredible 5000 homes. I just can't believe how hard these guys are working to make sure we have a new TD and a new Government.
