My two favorite representatives are and . Republicans are trying to attack them for their religion. HOW DARE THEY?! Here in District 9, we value diversity.

I never thought I would say it, but I am grateful that Bill Seitz stood against bigotry. Here in the 9th District, we have a very diverse array of religions. There is no "majority religion" here. It is offensive to say that every session has to open with a "Christian prayer."

We refused to entertain this ridiculous amendment because it would bring shame on the House and the Republicans that would have voted for it. Very disrespectful to our Jewish and Muslim members.

This is abhorrent, and it is clear that Republicans proposed this rule because the House of Representatives now has Muslim and Hindu members.

Now would be a great time for national media to pay attention for 30 seconds to Ohio’s corruption trial of the century starting today. The one that cemented our spot as “most corrupt state” last year. To say I’ve been disappointed with their disinterest is an understatement.

The democratic primary for Ohio’s vacant US House seat has received probably easily 50x the national media coverage compared to Ohio’s unprecedented statewide bribery scandal. Ohio’s HB6 scandal implicates a good portion of our state’s political powerhouses including…

Exactly why Ohio GOP, afraid of young voters, imposed strict photo ID….

Incredible generational shift: In 1997, 43% of 16 year olds had their driver’s license. By 2020, it was just 25%. Even by age 24, 1 in 5 today don’t have a driver’s license washingtonpost.com/business/2023/ via @andrewvandam

This anti-voter law needs to be repealed.
Quote Tweet
So the new Republican anti voter law just signed by our timid governor doesn’t allow veterans to use their veteran ID to vote nor does it let students use their student ID to vote. This is a set back for all Ohioans and is a completely unnecessary restriction of voting rights.

If the unsanitized King were here today many of yall would be uncomfortable in a room w/him So before you send that tweet, ask yourself can you honor a legacy you won't acknowledge? 1 that critiques evils of capitalism + militarism? That indicts white moderation + corporatism?

For context, Kevin De Leon, who finished 2nd in the 2018 primary and went on to get over 45% in the general election, raised a total of just over $1.8 million. Katie Porter has already raised about 1/7 of what the last non-incumbent candidate for this seat raised.

NEWS: @katieporteroc has raised over $250,000 in just 90 minutes since this morning's Senate campaign launch, on pace to blow past the public first day fundraising goal of half a million dollars.

Welcome to Day Three of Kevin McCarthy's quest for speaker. There are still 20 no votes against him. He may have to sit through a 7th speaker vote today that he's sure to lose. But if you squint, you can see some good signs for him. Here's what they are:

What if the U.S. House elected Kyrsten Sinema as Speaker? Then she could resign the Senate and have Katie Hobbs pick her replacement.

The point we should take away seems to be getting buried. He did not pay less in U.S. taxes because he cares less about the U.S. It is because the U.S. tax code is rigged in favor of those at the top. A better way is possible. Look at the tax codes of the countries he paid.

In 2017, Donald Trump paid $1 million in foreign taxes and $750 in US taxes. What’s “America First” about that?

It is not that complicated: 1) Conservatism wrecked the economy, multiple times, during Millennials' lives, and they provide no solution to making the economy more equitable; 2) Modern right-wing politics is largely premised on hating Millennials, our friends, and our values.

NEW: conservatives have a Millennials problem. In both UK & US, it’s not just that Millennials aren’t voting conservative because they’re young. Every previous generation grew more conservative with age, but Millennials are not playing ball. My column: enterprise-sharing.ft.com/redeem/a0c1c1b

It is absolutely wild that courts would force the executive branch to continue emergency pandemic restrictions indefinitely when it comes to the border, even as restrictions in every other area of life have been lifted.

This hits really hard because it is true. #SCOTUS justices, and the judicial branch in general, insist that they are interpreting the law and not imposing their preferred outcomes. It is difficult to see their actions on Title 42 as anything but imposing their preferred outcome.

Pretty wild to see Justice Gorsuch (rightly) call out his conservative colleagues for acting as “policy makers of last resort” by dictating migration restrictions at the behest of angry red states. supremecourt.gov/opinions/22pdf
The only plausible reason for stepping in at this stage that I can discern has to do with the States’ second request. The States contend that they face an immigration crisis at the border and policymakers have failed to agree on ade- quate measures to address it. The only means left to miti- gate the crisis, the States suggest, is an order from this Court directing the federal government to continue its COVID-era Title 42 policies as long as possible—at the very least during the pendency of our review. Today, the Court supplies just such an order. For my part, I do not discount the States’ concerns. Even the federal government acknowledges “that the end of the Title 42 orders will likely have disruptive consequences.” Brief in Opposition for Fed- eral Respondents 6. But the current border crisis is not a COVID crisis.

SCOTUS is going to roll in like "The assistant manager at TGI Fridays has a religious belief that women should always be barefoot and pregnant, and he opposes having women in the workplace. Banning pregnancy discrimination violates his religious freedom."

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act passed the U.S. Senate! This bill closes a loophole and requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant employees' medical needs. It looks like #PWFA will be signed into law in the coming days!
