(1/3) Yesterday, something historic happened at Le Bourget: seven CTOs of the world's leading aerospace companies shared the stage to express our commitment to tackling the challenge of sustainability and ultimately decarbonization of aviation through technology.

  4. (11/x) I want to launch an open-source, community-driven design of a space mission to an asteroid. Actually more of a general-purpose, fully open, robotic space exploration platform from which various missions can be composed, with asteroid mining as a reference use case.

  5. (10/x) I want to make a wearable (presumably dry) EEG sensor and classifier for dogs to aid in interpreting basic emotions. Something that could bluetooth to an app on your phone.

  6. (9/x) I want to make a distributed, peer-to-peer, totally open virtual world with multi-scale, physics-based modeling of objects & phenomena, and extensibility both of the world & the physics.

  8. (7/x) I left my job at UTC. That news was here: . Not ready to share the next thing yet. I am, however, working on a book about the future of aviation and the impact of technologies like electrification, hydrogen, autonomy, digital design & manufacturing.

  9. (6/x) and I adopted a dog via (who do great work and are another very worthwhile nonprofit!). His name is Li. He is the most precious thing ever. And he knows it. And of course he has his own Instagram. Follow him at:

  10. (5/x) Because 40 is a hefty number of orbits around Sol, and as enviro-political chaos threatens to slow technological progress, I am starting to worry a bit: what if I don’t make it to the singularity? So just in case, I figured I’d hedge and join Alcor. So that happened 😵⛄

  13. (2/x) I turned 40. I spent the day & night of my bday at the Lightning Field, a land art installation in New Mexico by Walter De Maria. It was incredible. Moving. Provocative. I got to do it with my boo & some great friends. It was one of my life's coolest experiences

12b. That's not all though - This year also recorded one of the busiest days in history. According to - 230,408 flights took to the skies on July 24, 2019. 😱😱😱 Nearly every trackable plane in the world was in use! 🛫🛬 ✈️

  17. (2/2) Not because it's hard to train a neural network to draw. It isn't. But because art is about making unlikely connections & extracting (or even creating) semantics that are not otherwise apparent. And neural networks are fundamentally about making the likeliest connections.

  18. (1/2) I read 's new book, How to Speak Machine, over Thanksgiving. It's a fresh, pithy, & accessible take on the fundamentals of CS. The most profound insight for me was that art will be the most difficult thing for AI to learn (at least with current approach to AI).
