'A nation is not a home.' I fear this encapsulates the divide in our society - between a rootless, cosmopolitan, bohemian middle-class (in this case a bloke who used to sing folk songs on the BBC) and a rooted, communitarian, patriotic working-class. https://twitter.com/HardingMike/status/1114862068581175296?s=19 …

What I don't understand is why I'm not invited to KSA,Venezuela or Norway to share the oil dividends. As a global citizen, am I not as entitled to those resources as the people of those countries? The British Empire was clearly an early implementation of a 'no borders' ideology!

Highlights the difference between community and self interest. Communities are dying because of enforced multiculturalism, wokeness and personal greed. Nationalism is not a bad thing. Patriotism is not a bad thing. Strong communities survive. Weak & divisive communities die.

Do you share house keys with all the residents on your street? Or do you enter each other's homes only when invited?

The terms “rootless” and “cosmopolitan” of course having absolutely zero problematic history when it comes to nationalism. FFS

Ironically, the great thing about European countries is their great feeling of 'home', culture and history amongst most inhabitants -not to be confused with rabid nationalism or hatred of others- except those who identify themselves as a sort of elite, who look down with disdain
