    I was privileged to meet Jackie, on a number of occasions, when filming & visiting He was an absolute gentleman... his legacy is secure. I can never visit Ieper and not attend The Menin Gate @ 8pm

    A Belgian life born in war and later dedicated to has departed.. says goodbye to its great and well loved Director, Jackie Platteeuw (1944-2021). Remember him. May he Rest in Peace.

    He was definitely from Glengormley, Paul. An elderly friend of mine knew him and his brother, and would refer to Stephen Boyd by his real name.

    Mal, Sheila & I couldn’t watch the programme on Thursday evening, because of work commitments Just watched it this evening on BBC 2, with my son, David - an arbiter of good taste!!! Well done, team!!!! Good to see Blane Scott & on the credits...

    Born in Egypt, but served in the RAF during the Second World War. Piceked up his Canadian twang from the guys he served with...

    He had a very distinctive style if I recall Paul. I was stuck to the telly Saturday afternoons watching these guys . Never missed it . And so was my wee grannie, she loved it and would be shouting at the telly if she degreed with the ref. lol
