If you read the you would get an alternative universe view. The only reality check is Newspoll for them.

Australia has record low unemployment and just had a record fall in real wages - how can anyone suggest the current system will ever deliver sustained real wage increases? We have to increase bargaining power of workers as wages will never accidentally surge #insiders #auspol

There’s a lesson in there somewhere. I know even more negativity, denial and rock throwing.

No doubt Serena is the GOAT but how about the mental strength grit and talent of Australia’s Aijla Tomljanovic? Watching the TV news and listening to Williams you would think the Aussie didn’t exist.

Indeed the cant is galling. Just like as a monarchist being against a republic because it is of the elite.

John Howard studied law, where he was politically active becoming national president of the Young Libs. First stood for Parliament at 29. When he lost office in 2007, he had been a federal MP for 33 of his 43 post-university years. And politically active for the rest. twitter.com/senatorbabet2/…

In November 1987 I was with the camera crews in the Kremlin room where Hawke shook hands with the Soviet leader at his meeting with Gorbachev. Hawke then flew to Washington and told Reagan he thought the Russian was the real deal. Vale a giant of the 20th century.

Stop softening abuse. Stop romanticising it. Stop offering crumbs of sympathy to perpetrators. Victim blaming is so ingrained in our culture it is the default response. It drives stories. It drives profits. It drives the cycle of domestic and sexual violence.

Wow the desperate trolls are out there this morning - pining for their hero Scott Morrison and slamming Albanese. Can’t be bothered blocking any of them.

American basketball superstar Shaq O’Neal gave a top of the news Saturday news story on TV news bulletins. If nothing else it allowed the PM to boost his yes campaign for the Voice. The pathetic naysaying from Jacinta Price and others pathetic.

Indeed. It set an appalling and nation diminishing trend every bit as small as its perpetrator.

In all my decades of covering national politics I think this was the most grimly consequential story I covered. It opened the Pandora’s box of xenophobic racism and fear that political leaders had kept the lid on since the end of the White Australia policy. Thank you John Howard! twitter.com/CanberraInside…

The Age’s convoluted crack at ⁦⁩ today was disappointing, if not surprising. Unlike its author, I have spoken to Eric Beecher about Lachlan’s heavy-handed assault and he’s just heartily sick of Murdoch intimidation, past and present. More strength to his arm.

A couple of quotes on Morrison & the election loss for the rusted on partisans to reflect on: Abbott: “it’s just highly unconventional, highly unorthodox and shouldn’t have happened” Howard: “I think the main reason we lost was that we didn't present a manifesto for the future”

When the first revelations of Scott Morrison’s secret ministries came out, many journalists didn’t understand the full implications of what had happened. One person who did twig was Anthony Albanese. explains the Prime Minister’s reaction.

Tell Dutton that Albanese came out swinging cos he is outraged like the rest of us and if Aus families are in strife today it is cos his previous gov or should I say Scott did jack all to prevent this. If Dutton was a man he should clean his party and accept responsibility.

So true: nothing to see here. The seeds of autocratic rule. now saying Australian families have more to worry about.

That there are people, some supposedly serious people, acting like what Morrison did is no biggie is why we need more scholarly understanding of Australian political institutions, party systems and political culture in schools & universities. And seemingly amongst politicians…

Christian Porter giving the all-clear to secretly co-appoint himself as #ScottyFromEveryMinistry has made it official - Porter is the worst occupant of the post of First Law Officer of the Commonwealth, ever. Full story here.👇 #auspol

I’m quite serious about this. Secretly, Morrison has driven a garbage truck through the constitution, through parliamentary democracy, and the principle of cabinet collective responsibility. It reeks of dictatorship.

We the people are entitled, by right, to know who governs us. And how. Morrison secretly seizing three ministries for himself, like a thief in the night, is a contemptuous insult and a dangerous accretion of power with the acrid whiff of a coup d’état.
