The ACA was the basis of the problem, imo. Rather, GOP refusal to work with Dems on ironing out proper funding is the basis of the problem. GOP knew ACA would be destabilized if if only sick people were in the insurance pool, but they refused to support the “tax” on not having

insurance, & refused to offer any other ideas. This made insurance companies understandably nervous. Then, with the Trump/GOP’s piecemeal dismantling of the “tax” & other funding provisions, insurance companies are freaking out. OF COURSE insurance rates are going up.

Hmm...I don’t agree. The mandate was part of the original plan as formulated by the Heritage Foundation; it’s a necessary feature that broadens the pool of insured people & keeps costs down. It relieves the financial burden on hospitals if more patients have insurance.

There are other ways to utilize private-sector insurance & still keep costs low; Germany has such a system, iirc. I’m open to other ways of doing low-cost insurance/healthcare. The trick is getting politicians to pay attention.
