Just one year into this Presidency and we’ve seen nothing but broken promises to working families. So I wish I could say what we see in this tax bill is shocking, but sadly, at this point—it’s expected.

Democrats were ready to work across the aisle, we wanted a seat at the table. We wanted to give tax cuts to the middle class & close some of the egregious loopholes used by the wealthy and well-connected. Republicans refused.

Instead of working out in the open on this tax plan—Republicans worked in back rooms, where nobody could see what they were doing. And they didn’t listen to actual middle class families who would be impacted.

Stop calling it tax reform, please. That’s not what this bill does. It isn’t even the intention. We shouldn’t be repeating their frames. This cuts revenue that will be used as an excuse to deny basic healthcare to children.
