After months and years of inaction—& far too many lives lost—there was the first sliver of hope in a long while that the President and Senate GOP would finally put the safety of our families over their allegiance to the NRA & do something to end the gun violence epidemic.
Now—after two more months of inaction—President Trump has betrayed his pledge to address this tragic epidemic. Once again, he’s chosen to abdicate his responsibility to keep our families and communities safe and has broken yet another promise he made to the American people.
Cowardice is what we’re seeing from far too many Republicans when it comes to protecting families from the scourge of gun violence.

You do know criminals will not submit to background checks And this shooting is to distract from the farce going on in DC
A 16 year old had the inspiration to shoot others and himself as a way to distract society from the events in DC. I don’t think @realDonaldTrump was distracted for a minute.
Serious question: How is that one man, Mitch, can render the Senate useless and impotent? What recourse do colleagues and/or citizens, not Kentuckians, have to remove him and hold him accountable for failure to uphold his oath and protect US from promiscuous gun violence?

They are like making sure people follow the Constitution before voting or governing others. It helps but is no guarantee. It does make tyranny much safer from the citizens.
