President Trump’s executive overreach is deeply disturbing, & is particularly relevant in my home state of Washington—where efforts to update Naval Base Kitsap's pier & maintenance facility are now deferred indefinitely after funds were diverted to build Trump's wasteful wall.
As a reminder, this is a wall that the majority of American people did not ask for and do not want, that President Trump originally claimed Mexico would pay for, and that Congress has time and again decided not to fund on a bipartisan basis.
So here’s the bottom line: @SenateDems and I will not stand by while this President steps over Congress to build his wall on the backs of our troops and their families.
They deserve so much better from their country—and I won’t let up until this is made right.
