Congress passed the 21st Century Cures Act to make sure vital data isn't blocked by unnecessary, unreasonable barriers: when health IT systems can’t speak with each other, & people can’t speak up about the problems they see, it’s patients who get hurt.

We are living in 2019—patients should be able to easily access their information online without having to struggle with massive binders, unreadable PDFs, & stacks of CDs. The HELP Committee must work to make sure that transition is safe and secure.

AI efforts like IBM's WATSON do an amazing job of pre-screening and pointing to problems that can save what could be costly and time consuming testing. Facilitated greatly by digital data. Down side is cost of digitization, need to secure records and fact that govt stinks at it
