Thirty-one states grant law enforcement warrantless access to databases containing drug histories...& the DEA is pushing hard for warrantless access, too. Nobody seems to care that legitimate chronic pain pts are having their rights & privacy trampled..GO AFTER ILLEGAL DRUGS!
Today electronic health records help doctors across the country identify health problems sooner, avoid medication errors, and make decisions with more knowledge of a patient's medical history. We must continue working to make sure providers and patients can access helpful data.

Doctors are even more in danger by this policy. It’s like having a dose prescribed counter around your neck, broadcasting continuously to regulators. Just like a speedometer that does the same and speeding tickets arrive in the mail.

Wow! You obviously have not talked to many practicing physicians. We were sold the same bill of goods by administrators. Didn’t believe it and suffered the loss of face to face time with patients and quality of life. EMR’s are proven to be the largest factor in physician burnout.

Unfortunately, the insurance co have access to this “helpful” data also. What I discuss with my Doc should be private not fodder for insurance and pharmaceutical cos. increasingly, what little is still my own is the confessional. No one has figured out how to make money there
