Five years ago today, a tragic mudslide devastated the community of Oso in Snohomish County, leaving painful emotional scars and memories of the 43 people whose lives were lost.
I remember touring the slide, Oso, & Darrington after the tragedy happened & I witnessed hope & strength—neighbors providing food & shelter, 1st responders braving dangerous conditions to look for survivors, & people from across WA & tribal communities offering help & donations.
All of us stood w/ this tight knit community & made sure they had the federal resources they needed for recovery & rebuilding.
