I guess things haven’t changed much in 30 years. I quit more than one job because I couldn’t find decent childcare for my 3 kids.

Thank you! I am stuck in a job I HATE because they will work with my schedule. It would cost me more in child care than I earn. Meanwhile, I am not working on my career or saving for retirement. My story is surely far from unique.

How about hiring rules that value Mom's and Dad's who fulfill their responsibility as parents and raise their kids during the early years? Give stay at home parents a stipend and spare employers and employees from the burden of inconsistent attendance. Keep families intact!

I love the idea that childcare would be subsidized. Now, how do we get young families to marry vs staying apart so their children can have medical insurance?

Bit of a stretch to say people are not taking high paying jobs due to lack of childcare.
