That doesn't make college more affordable. Guaranteed government student loans is what made college so expensive. Colleges gouge students, because the government is the one paying. There is no incentive for the college to be affordable.

My children graduated from the university of Washington without debt. It wasn’t that expensive. If someone wants to waste their money they can pay for it themselves. No reason to go $60,000+ in debt to go to college then default on the loan.
