Last night, President Trump said he wanted to help fight childhood cancer and end the HIV epidemic. I absolutely share those goals, which is why I hope the president understands one very important thing.

The most urgent step we can take right now to help children battling cancer, and help those struggling with HIV, is to make absolutely sure their health care coverage isn’t taken away.

But if the Texas lawsuit his administration stands behind goes into effect, children w/ cancer would lose protection for their pre-existing conditions. People who've gained coverage under Medicaid—which is a critical source of coverage for those w/ HIV—would lose their insurance.

So if President Trump is really serious about either of these efforts—he could start by taking a close look at his actions, because especially for people wondering what the future holds for their health coverage, his actions speak a lot louder than what he says in a speech.

States have the their own laws, and a President cannot interfere. The Supreme court can interfere if laws are unconstitutional. Know our form of government.
