We can absolutely have a conversation about border security once this shutdown ends, but Republicans need to stop covering for President Trump’s partisan games and work with us to end this crisis.

Disappointed that Senate Republicans once again blocked our attempt to reopen the government and end this unnecessary shutdown. There's no reason for workers and families in WA and across the country to be held hostage by President Trump and pay the price for his political games.

The blame game is an easy one to play. Taking responsibility and working for compromise on the other hand takes a bit more effort however.

Have you looked into the compromise they’ve tried to come to with Democrats? On numerous occasions??? It gets blocked every time, and it’s an issue from both sides.

Today, House Democrats: → voted NO to paying all federal workers who have been affected by the partial shutdown. → decided to leave early tomorrow and give themselves a three day weekend.

H.R.268, roll call 116, 52-44, only six (6) Republicans voted YES, majority of Republicans voted NO. Sounds exactly opposite to me.

Get a group of high schoolers with Model Congress experience into the chambers. Give them each a roll to play. Let them negotiate. I bet you Model Congress kids will solve the problem before the pizza shows up, because they will *want* a solution & won't worry about re-election.
