The Trump administration's rationale for deploying active duty troops was to evoke fear & doesn't serve a national security purpose. Continuing to rely on active duty troops militarizes the border & normalizes their deployment domestically—a dangerous precedent for any democracy.
The administration has presented no evidence to suggest asylum seekers pose a national security threat; there has been no justification for why the deployment was extended and the rules of use of force expanded, or why active duty troops were sent at all.
You want a non-military solution? Pass reasonable laws with work visas and punish employers of the undocumented. For those who want to be a part of our great nation, pave a path to citizenship that will encourage assimilation. Oh yeah-& a wall so that the military can go home!
And of course it's just a coincidence and not racism that you aren't all lathered up about our other borders. That darn Canada, and anyone can waft in on a boat so we better wall off our coastlines.
