But also a death sentence to small businesses, independent contractors & self employed people who now have to pay a higher wage while struggling themselves. Plus it will raise the cost of living which will hit our rural areas the hardest. There has to be a middle ground?

Exactly. You raise the minimum wage and the Big Mac will be $15. That means more robots in McDonalds and less workers. It’s a very slippery slope.

Wrong thing to do. Not the role of a government in a free society. Nobody is preventing anyone in an entry level job from seeking a higher paying job.
