It’s a tragedy when ppl lose their property to be sure. Forest fires are, however, a natural & necessary part of a healthy forest ecology. Apparently we’ve learned little from the days of Gifford Pinchot, who also thought Man could re-engineer Nature & make it better.

And recognize that the more thick our atmosphere becomes with carbon dioxide, the worse the fires will be every year - I guess until all our forests are gone. Thank you big oil and global catastrophic climate change.

Air quality here is now the worst in the world. Worse than Beijing - kids have to play indoors with windows shut. My family has lived in the PNW for generations - these smoke-filled summers are not normal. At least they didn't use to be.
