Here are some pics and I took of the Vivo smartphone with the Synaptics in-display fingerprint reader. The CMOS image sensor is .7mm thick and reads the fingerprint right through the OLED display. The experience was faster than I expected.

So, an “image sensor,” meaning a modest-rez picture of the finger will work?

We're still waiting on details about spoofing, but the reality is that Synaptics' sensors are among the hardest to spoof already. So, I see no reason why they would compromise much on security.

What about rejecting false fingers and FAR level.

What triggered this quest at the first place was the rumor that Apple is placing a reader under the screen. Now that the rumor proved wrong , all are left hanging trying to figure out what to do. No Apple to show the way.

No way Face-id wil be the future . It is very unsecure, slow and expensive

Very low FAR rate and only 2D. A picture will spoofe it
