Although it’s a great idea if the ioT device only needs to get to the internet or to other IoT devices to operate. Trickier when you need a smart device or PC to interact with them. Then you will need to develop inbound/outbound segment FW rules. Hard for non-tech users.

Nearly impossible today. I want to see full scale API gateway systems, where each IoT devices *only* talk to this gateway under the user's control (ideally a home server, may run on the router). Then you can actually control the full range of functionality of the devices.
