The Dept of Homelessness just shared that two guests of MSC South Shelter, which is in my district and the largest shelter in Northern CA, tested positive for COVID-19. This is a disaster, and getting more dangerous by the hour. No more delay. Move people into hotel rooms, NOW.

Predicted, sure, some even started freeing inmates, but that was a reaction to the fact that jails are the perfect "incubator" for the virus, with 40 guys literally stacked up per room.

Our mass incarceration system, with world record high portions of covid positive patients, are a perfect incubator for this virus. Which is why many public defenders and lawyers are correctly identifying it as a epicenter.

The word epicenter comes from seismology, it means literally "above the center. When bastatrdized to use for a pandemic, one would still expect it to mean"center". The majority of infections did not come from prisons, not even close. "The" epicenter implies one only. l
