There’s been some debate about the RESTRICT Act today. I think this point is very important, especially agencies not leaving power on the table. Like, one of the biggest issues in environmental policy right now is the EPA unilaterally redefining the term “navigable waterway.”

The broad power to investigate+repeated use of “any” throughout are troubling. As is discretion in agencies/WH to determine what entities are under the control of foreign adversaries, coupled w/ power to retroactively regulate. Agencies don’t usually leave power/discretion unused

I’m suspicious of changes to the regulatory review process from the Biden administration.
Biden has shown a clear interest in pursuing a political agenda through agencies and regulation for wins during a divided congress. Interested to see what experts say about this news dump.

Whether the specific commentary is factual or not, the technical critique of the CBDC is correct. It could allow enforcement of laws through direct control of your money. If you believe laws are always good and just, this sounds amazing. If you know they are not, it’s terrifying.

Holy moly, these DeSantis comments on the Fed are insane
Don't get me wrong: Fed has made mistakes, is not immune to criticism. But according to DeSantis, the real problem is that Fed wants to create central bank digital currency so that it can help liberals take away your guns

The whole debate about NPR being labeled “state-funded media” is interesting timing, considering a bill was just introduced in Congress to allow most of the rest of the media to skirt antitrust law and extract rents from tech companies. Indirect… but pretty direct state funding.
