'Indigenous Polynesians' would be Maori and they certainly aren't 20% of the population. There are plenty of other Polynesians in New Zealand but I doubt adding them all together makes 20%

The problem is that 'Maori' is self identification. The Maori population ranges from almost full Maori to your great Gandma may have been Maori. There is no actual test for Maori. There are however financial benefits if you can can convince someone of your 'Maoriness'

Yes, not sure on the mixed race criteria, but the mixed race in the pie chart was at 9.7% . So i suppose if you don't want to include them Polynesians would be at 13%, and if you do include them 22.7%

Sorry to break it to you, the consensus is the land was empty when they arrived. Thought they had war with tribes on another island. Let me ask you this. European tribes fought each other, does that mean their land doesn’t belong to them?
