This is the driest April on record in #Spain. The worst drought anyone there can remember. Local Farmer: “If the weather does not change it will be zero. Nothing is going to be harvested” This is not a "new normal" - this is a new climate - with devastating consequences.

The fatal mistake the media has made - and I see this in countless so-called senior journalists - is believing dire warnings are an exaggeration. When David Attenborough warned of the collapse of civilisation, it is a real possibility. It may be coming faster than he expected.

The onslaught against Dylan Mulvaney is one of the most grotesque examples of public bullying I’ve ever seen, and shows that anti-trans activists just want trans people driven from public life altogether. For them, cruelty is the point - and the method.
Quote Tweet
Dylan Mulvaney returns to TikTok: “I’ve always tried to love everyone, even the people who make it really really hard, and I think it’s ok to be frustrated with someone, or confused, but what I’m struggling to understand is the need to dehumanize and to be cruel.”

These are real scientists protesting. There's almost no one in the media speaking up passionately about this - apart from those you'd expect - so I cant see how we have any hope of saving ourselves. Most people are choosing the collapse pathway through apathy. It is what it is.

After tweeting that the WI has welcomed trans women since the 70s I've had lots of replies calling me a man etc Had breakfast with a friend this morning then bike ride and swim in lake. Off to write now, a job I love. Know you'd love to upset me but I'm not miserable like you ;)

So the Women’s Institute has welcomed trans women since the 1970s without any problems. Yet we’re asked to believe this is a “controversial”, unsolvable —civilization-ending! — conundrum in 2023. Still not like there’s any other slightly more pressing issues in this country eh? twitter.com/KirstieMAllsop…

If people in the media informed the public about the science of the threat to our ability to survive on this planet, activists wouldn’t need to use any tactics

Gone are the days of causing physical destruction for Extinction Rebellion as they change their tactics. Do disruptive eco protests work? Debating the issue is XR and ‘Just Stop Oil’ who have not abandoned the more destructive tactics, as they disrupted the World Snooker… Show more

In other news society could collapse because the agricultural systems on which we rely for, you know, the food we need to eat to like, stay alive, are under threat? Could affect women?

After decades of deforestation, suffering ever more flash flooding, drought, erosion and landslides, democratic Costa Rica took the decision in the 1980s to turn the tide. Since then, in one generation, forest cover has more than doubled, from a quarter of the country to half.… Show more

I have reinstalled Twitter to respond to this story and make sure my voice is fully heard. I am Casey. My real name is Alex but my mom decided it would be best to hide it for anonymity. But this is my story, not hers. This is not the free press’s story.

This is Rosie Duffield, a Labour MP, liking a tweet that contains Holocaust revisionism. Trans people and gay people were sent to die in concentration camps by the Nazis. This is a historical fact, and it is disgusting that a sitting Labour MP would approve of its denial.

Not saying there's nothing to be upset about. Or to do nothing. But I feel empowered knowing my life's in a good place and genuinely feel we're more able to deal with what's happening if we look after ourselves first. You can't control what they do but you can be good to yourself

Trans people need to think about what the people who hate us want us to do - and do the opposite They don't want you to sleep well. Make money. Have a close relationship with your family. Look good. Be healthy. Be in love They want you to argue with them and be upset. Don't do it

Not sure who needs to be reminded of this but trans people make up less than 1% of the population and the overwhelming majority of us want to live in peace, just like everyone else. I had a driving lesson this morning. Dentists at 2, then dinner at 7. Please ignore the bullshit.

Where are British journalists when it comes to this topic? Is no one interested in the links between the anti-trans movement and fascism, or is everyone too busy worrying about hypothetical situations in toilets and inclusive language in NHS and charity leaflets?

Hate to say I told you so: first they go for trans folk, then the entire LGBT community, and once all their enemies have been separated out and weakened, they go for the women. Because controlling women is the big prize they're really chasing. We're marching back to a bad place

I've never seen a video that sums up what's happening better than this. It's like the essential oil of the problem: the twisted variety of bullying in which the bullies position themselves as the bullied. And somehow, in this country, this is taken as a serious political position

The amount of people on here sharing covid conspiracies or becoming obsessed with trans people is genuinely frightening. It's not too late to delete your accounts and get help. I'm genuinely worried what this fixation is doing to people's mental health, and the wider consequences

How do we know what's real? What we buy? Read? Consume? In a world that feels increasingly superficial I've become fascinated with Professor Patricia Kingori's work on fakes and fabrications - which has now influenced an exhibition at the Royal Society. Great podcast in the link.
