So I just saw @NerdECrafter's video regarding the whole new @YouTube rule changes that start next year, and I gotta say:
Shit's fucked. And this cannot happen.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-dBsV5Yawo …

To summarize, next year if you make any content that
@TeamYouTube consideres "kid friendly" you lose access to comments, notifications, and most importantly, revenue.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
This is so damn broad, and will have so much splash damage that adult toy collectors and crafters, like myself, won't be able to engage with the creators we follow and whose content we enjoy. The new rules don't take context into account, and that's devastating.

I mention crafting in particular, because that's a HEAVILY feminine and queer presence on YouTube. These new rules will impact them more severely, because many male DIYers use stuff like heavy machinery, which wouldn't be considered "child friendly".

@YouTube is doing this because they were fined for collecting data on children for the purpose of targeting ads at them. Don't punish your creators because you fucked up,@TeamYouTube.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likesShow this thread -
Instead of forcing creators to abandon the content that many people (myself included) come to your site to watch them for, allow people to engage with creators, and don't force people to categorize their content as either "kid friendly" or "not".

If they want to be specifically and only for kids, then give creators the option, but don't force them to be only for kids, because you can't be damned to have some human insight on content, and instead want to rely on ANOTHER terrible AI to do your jobs for you.

The copyright AI is busted to hell and back, is super unfair to creators, and doesn't take context into account. Don't add another one that will only make the jobs of content creators (the whole reason you have a "successful" platform) even harder than it needs to be.

TL;DR: @YouTube and @TeamYouTube: These new rules are garbage. You are screwing over your creators YET AGAIN because you screwed up, and you will hurt queer and women creators disproportionately.
Stop this.
