In other words, what if modernity doesn’t have a fertility problem because it is the fertility problem? The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb, etc.

You mean there is no solution to human fertility within modernity apart from replicants, or reversion to primitivism?
-
I don’t think so. At least not one where human reproduction is more than husbandry to the butchery of modernity. But obviously from Its POV, that’s a feature not a bug.
-
It’s like the Borg. It would be absurd to say the Borg has to worry about a fertility crisis.
-
The borg did worry about who to assimilate next though, modernity needs new people just the same
-
It does, but that’s a slightly different problem than making its own. And insofar as it is only trying to conserve the process, It can be much more indiscriminate about it than is comforting to admit.
-
The “good news” is that we’re actually the cleaver even though we think we’re the cow.
-
That’s the coldest take I’ve got.
