This is the real cost of Brexit - a black hole that sucks in all our country’s political energy, ideas and policies.https://twitter.com/shippersunbound/status/937073070107394048 …

To be fair, social mobility was a thing unsolved long before Brexit came along.

The point is Brexit is sapping capacity to address these concerns. For me, Brexit is the wrong answer to the wrong question.

I know what the point is. My point is sinpmy that that is a circular argument, and the problems that could be solved if we weren't spending time on Brexit were never solved before it either.

Take that point too - but don’t you think that the draining of all energy and money and personnel into one subject will negatively impact govt’s ability to deal with other things? Especially things that have been admittedly hard in the past.

Anyone who thinks good things happen in proportion to government effort expended probably supports the EU. Wasn't the brexit vote rejecting this perspective in the first place?
