By my count there has only been one real failed attempt to "make Armie Hammer happen," the dud Lone Ranger. UNCLE was an ensemble, and not really a dud. All his other roles have been supporting parts.

This seems like a story about a talented guy with star potential whose big break didn't work out ... and who has kept taking supporting parts, doing indies, etc., without having one break big. In other words, a working actor.

Call Me By Your Name may or may not be brilliant, but what it surely isn't is a standard Hollywood attempt to "make" somebody as a star.

Is anyone wondering about the import of a movie about a 24-year-old man having sex with a minor? Isn't the kid supposed to be 17 years old in the film? Seems a bit odd to me that no one's mentioning this.

Give it time, we haven't hit that point in the hype/backlash/culture war volley/ thinkpiece/reconsideration cycle.

It just surprises me that so few people have mentioned this, especially with the heightened awareness in the last few weeks about minors. Reading about the movie made me very uneasy.

If you have a problem with it why don't you say something instead of this mealy-mouthed 'why aren't other people saying this'
