Decent stores of value have always had a high production cost so bitcoin's electricity usage is unsurprising, the exception though is artworks, because a highly valuable work of art can be produced with low cost materials, to be valuable though it's creation has to be....https://twitter.com/ParadiseDelayed/status/1047822782028046336 …

Does this just account for electric produced from non-renewables resources?

No it's accounting for all electric, haven't factored renewable vs non-renewable in

Last time I check a significant amount of bitcoin is produced from solar panel.

https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2018/08/28/bitcoin-drives-energy-innovation/ … The gist here is that excess electricity is consumed by bitcoin and sold back around 3 to 4 times the anount you could get from just selling the electric. Also more economical than manufacturing batteries flr storage.

Also some farm in australia is producing around 7 MW for it’s own usage.

From a quick reading the profitability of using excess or renewable sources will push quarries away from nonrenewable sources as the bitcoin-produced-per-watt margin from using these sources approaches 0.
