Leftist thought isn't as hegemonic as you're making it out to be. Some will say "please read settlers", some are going to agree with Zizek when he says that the left should "support" the populist right's efforts to knock over the neoliberal order.
-
How many on the left actually agree with Zizek on that? genuine question
-
Hard to gauge, I guess. Probably more than readily apparent. You can't exactly publicly agree with Zizek's more controversial positions without getting dogpiled in most discussion spaces.

i think the general leftist take is that liberal elites rule as long as things are going well, and that identitarianism is what rises to the top in times of crisis -and that both ultimately defend the same thing, but with different attitudes towards its inherent violence

@rotundmanchild explained this to me once but iirc when the valorization of capital slows down and exchange value becomes sufficiently separated from labor value it gives an opening for fascistic policy which takes over capital in order to assure a minimum level of production -
I'm pretty sure the way it works for neoliberalism is to use fiat and other measures to ensure a minimum level of profitability

Kinda sleepy, so not sure how relevant it is, but Jim Goad's The Redneck Manifesto covers stuff like this. Interesting read, he was talking about a lot of things people discuss here in the 90s.
-
His thesis there is basically that elite whites scapegoat "rednecks" for their own guilt complexes about actual structural privilege, and also as a divide and conquer scheme, to play the lower classes against each other with racial neuroses.
-
I'm not putting this well because I'm distracted by personal issues right now, but you get the idea.

Probably but the thing is, there's nothing *but* the rhetoric, it's not in service to any underlying internal logic (regardless of what "theorists" say) , it's largely negative, parasitic, what's amazing is that people who appear to be intelligent go along with this insane shit.
-
Notice how it concentrates around the verbal classes, that's not an accident, they're easier to dislodge so it can pay off to stir up trouble. Try to do that as a part of the productive classes and you'll just end up destroying wealth, easier to stick to a niche.
