In what sense is Capital really alien if it's just the processing of human desire
-
-
It's theological. So the alien is demonic, other. Materialism = capitalism. By giving in to desire you are giving in to demons/aliens. Civilization doesn't need capitalism. But capitalism needs civilization.

this is a set of assertions not an argument

It makes sense in my head. I’m sure you would agree that most desires are not beneficial to humans? Or at least taken to extremes they can be harmful. And we live in a world of abundance which means it is more likely desires are taken to extremes.
-
So if ‘our’ desires end up being detrimental, they could be considered as Other or alien. Or as religious folks would put it, they are brought about by demons, leading to demonic possession. In our secular age, these demons become ‘aliens’ This just synthesized the movie Upgrade
