I read Buddha is the Centre of Gravity a while ago which is by Joshu Sasaki, I have insufficient experience to compare the two sides really, people from both traditions seem to report genuine progress though

Yeah there's certainly value all around. American Soto has a strain of culty stuff and is largely very sick from the cultural leftovers of the beatniks.

Yeah, I think you could approach politics with that awareness and it would imply something like a pragmatic rather than idealistic approach... but I'll probably never get round to working this through
