I can't prove you wrong but don't say the quiet part out loud...
-
Mark Fisher said something like capitalism makes it harder for you to imagine the alternatives to it, which is more nuanced than what I said
-
Sounds akin to the fucker in the Pratchett book talking about boots
-
What does he say? I didn't read enough Terry Pratchett
-
Basically, a poor man can buy shitty boots that last six months for 50 bucks, but a rich man can buy boots that never need replacing for 200; the poor man spends more on boots in his lifetime Compare and contrast rent, jobs that wear out your joints, workplaces that provide food

all we need is a communist to get their hands on a single nuke & then we can have an alternative
-
Maybe, though the USSR was communist and they had many nukes
-
Tbh the tech wasn't there for the USSR to be good at communism Like fuck all the arguments about what is or isn't socialism are we forgetting we can be good or bad at them
-
What level of tech do you think it needs, current or some future level?
-
Current would have to be global or bust from the perspective of most places The US could do it in isolation today It's all about resource access, and 'a climate that can't passively murder you' is something I consider a resource Massive geographic reorganization necessary
