Isn't the gain in median household income of 1.6% about the same as inflation, so it's a zero gain really.

That is the real story. Real wages have stagnated; healthcare, education and food costs have increased. The average person, w/out a stock portfolio, is not feeling better off. At all. Trump continues to brag about stock market and full employment. But many folks ain’t feelin it.

And we're actually only at 62% or so employment. It's just, people who are unemployed, want to work, but have given up searching for at least 12 months no longer count under the neoclassical definition of unemployment. But those people are able, willing, and need jobs.
