I earned TOPS in Louisiana before @BobbyJindal cut and destroyed higher education funding. I owned nothing when i finished my degree, and i still firmly believe that people need this assistance. If we can allow Amazon to pay zero in federal tax, we can afford to help others.
I have two degrees and owe $0 in student loans. I worked multiple jobs. I took extra years to graduate debt-free. And I still support Elizabeth Warren's plan to relieve student loan debt. It's not about me. It's about sending the message that education shouldn't be a punishment.

Same. 2 degrees . 3 licenses. 3% loans that I paid off ASAP because they were not huge amounts of $$$. Same career path, they now come out owing over $100K.

I didn't have any debt. I was lucky to have a family that planned and had the money to do so. I have zero issue blitzing out anyone else's debts going forward. Zero. None.

Today's tuition is MUCH more expensive than when you went to school, as well. Average state schools are still 20-25k a year now.

Well, I'm not old, so it was astronomical for me too. Kansas was about $17k when I was in college. (I went to private University for about 4x that)
Still don't care about wiping clean other people's debts. Gives them freedom to contribute more and differently to our economy!

Without scholarships & low-interest loans, I wouldn't have been able to attend the colleges & universities of my choice, despite near perfect grades & test scores. And state schools were affordable back then too! We're failing at this now & it will be to society's detriment.

Free Education is a sane investment in a country - having a higher skilled workforce is not only preventing future “hand outs” as GOP’s might call them, it is also generating a higher revenue from taxation of their higher salaries. No liberties removed.

It also created a better workforce for companies, so that they can create a better business. It is a win win situation - where nobody is loosing anything except maybe their pathetic notion of “hand outs”..

I was able to get through nursing school debt free by going to a community college and working at a hospital that provided tuition reimbursement, and in-laws that helped pay for my books. I also think that education should not result in a lifetime of debt.

Honestly, what incentive is there to better yourself through education if you're just going to be paying off student loans until you die?

So should everyone that has paid off their loans be reimbursed? I mean it doesn’t take much work to calculate what you expect to make as a college grad & the expense of a loan pymt. If you can’t figure that out or the expense far outweighs the paycheck, then do something else.

Nope. Or backdate it 5 years or something. Either way, "we might screw over those who already got screwed, so we shouldn't prevent others from getting screwed over" is a very selfish take.

Exactly the response I expected...thank you. After we relieve everyone’s college & mortgage debt, auto loan debt can be relieved as well. Transportation shouldn’t be a punishment either. Don’t worry kids, the government will coddle you, don’t ever worry about being an adult.

I went to an expensive college in the 80’s and only incurred $11,000 in debt. Students should have it even easier than I did. Instead it’s 10 times harder.
