      Baptists be like: the Catholic Church didn’t let any one read the Bible!!!! Ummmm, actually most people couldn’t read the Bible because for most of history the vast majority of people were illiterate. BOOM.

      Literally one of Martin Luther's points was that the church should teach laypeople to read the bible, to which the pope responded by condemning him to death.

      He did, but education for Christ was one of his main points, along with removing financial gain from the church's leadership
