I quit my job and learned Cocoa and eventually made a few things that people liked, like @hellomountee. Then iPhones happened, which was great (Cocoa job opportunities!)

For whatever reason though, Panic just didn't land on iOS in the same way as they had on the Mac. Their iOS apps are great, but they're not central to the story the way that they were (for 22 year old me).

There was a brief bloom of creative stuff on iOS, but then lots of the more artistic indie developers lost their excitement and moved on from trying to do creative things in iOS.

That was too bad... but it's ok, we're grown ups and we know that Apple doesn't exist to make a wonderland for indie developers and artists. Of course they don't! But... I think
