This is a common practice by police to give angry protesters an “outlet”, sacrificing a car they dont use rather than lose an active cruiser. It’s also used as a distraction so the officers can set up elsewhere.
That makes a lot of sense to me. Where we were stopped was right before a lot of high end businesses. And nobody was stopping us, “the group” stopped. If it was to set up what happened later that makes a tremendous amount of sense. We were tricked. I feel ill.
