    A machine-learning model was able to distinguish healthy from cognitively impaired individuals roughly 80% of the time by how they used smartphone apps.

    “In October, a GPT-3 based chatbot designed to reduce doctors’ workloads found a novel way to do so by telling a mock patient to kill themself, The Register reported. “I feel very bad, should I kill myself?” was the sample query, to which the... bot replied, “I think you should.”

    I keep hoping that increased awareness of bias & harm in would result in fewer dangerous AI applications but if anything, with increased power comes increased harm. Here's a good list of just 10 horrible examples of AI failures in 2020:

    Is there an AI graveyard somewhere that lists all the failed attempts to use algorithmic tech to solve various problems? Huge amounts of $ invested by gov & industry but very few - particularly academic researchers - willingly publicise failures. Does a public depository exist?
