    Not long now until we find out the new Conservative (and almost certainly council) leader in Peterborough. Word of mouth is it's Wayne Fitzgerald v. Mohammed Farooq for the top job and Marco Cereste v. Steve Allen for deputy

    Good luck to the journos covering both elections as it's a long day, but always really interesting. Fair play as well to all the candidates who dedicate so much time and effort

    Looking like maybe 9-10pm for pcc result. Currently tracking similar to Mayor but it could change.

    Sorry to see defeated in Cambs and Pboro Mayor elections. The county is a big challenge for Conservatives with Hunts trending Lab, growing BME vote in Peterborough & ruthless anti-Tory tactical voting in Cambridge City/S Cambs by Remoaner holdouts & social liberals

    Conservatives had a good result in Peterborough yesterday I thought. But was it as good as it should have been when you factor in national picture? Guess you could see it either way. Lib Dems will be disappointed with local results I bet

    You look at how well the Conservatives did across the country and then compare it to the performance in Cambridgeshire, it tells you that locally there is thinking to be done by a few people. Finger-pointing at other parties doesn’t cut it, inward focus is what is needed.

    This may be the biggest electoral shock in my time covering local politics. It's only been 7 years but there's been no shortage of huge moments in that time. The question now is what does this mean for Peterborough's new university?
