Labour will also decide whether to stick with Shaz Nawaz, although with the current number of suspensions it's unlikely to be a well attended AGM!

Not long now until we find out the new Conservative (and almost certainly council) leader in Peterborough. Word of mouth is it's Wayne Fitzgerald v. Mohammed Farooq for the top job and Marco Cereste v. Steve Allen for deputy

As much as I like the Championship, it's ridiculous this sort of stuff keeps happening after seasons are finished

Losing an election can't be nice but being able to get off Twitter when you're a politician must be a benefit

A northern powerhouse and the environment capital - this is what new mayor had to say about Peterborough after being elected

And another superb ending to the Championship season proving that it is far more interesting than the Champions League dominated by the rich elite. Derby-Sheff Wed was absolutely gripping.

Away from local politics, some good news for Peterborough that a domestic abuse charity can continue to offer free support to survivors

Good luck to the journos covering both elections as it's a long day, but always really interesting. Fair play as well to all the candidates who dedicate so much time and effort

Shouldn't make any difference to that I wouldn't think

Meanwhile the Police & Crime Commissioner election count continues. Three districts have reported their first round votes so far, following a similar pattern to the Mayoral election.

Sorry to see defeated in Cambs and Pboro Mayor elections. The county is a big challenge for Conservatives with Hunts trending Lab, growing BME vote in Peterborough & ruthless anti-Tory tactical voting in Cambridge City/S Cambs by Remoaner holdouts & social liberals

Conservatives had a good result in Peterborough yesterday I thought. But was it as good as it should have been when you factor in national picture? Guess you could see it either way. Lib Dems will be disappointed with local results I bet

This may be the biggest electoral shock in my time covering local politics. It's only been 7 years but there's been no shortage of huge moments in that time. The question now is what does this mean for Peterborough's new university?

Of the Lib Dem votes in Peterborough, 80% transferred and Labour got 63% of those - more than enough for victory.

Staggering result with Labour's becoming the new Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. This could have profound changes for the local area
