If you want to quickly up-level your tidyverse game, I highly recommend watching 's "Ten Tremendous Tricks in the Tidyverse" talk. Each trick is demonstrated with examples from his code in his screencasts.

New paper in Social Indicators Research (Open Access) on making deprivation measures more efficient. Not mass appeal! But matters because: -> quicker measures -> easier to include in more surveys -> better evidence of incidence and impacts of poverty

I really wish philosophers would stop making respectable the notion that you can write 'dispassionately' on anything. You can't. If you are, you're probably writing crap. If you insist you're writing dispassionately, you certainly aren't.

Great idea! Next step make it mandatory to report all new scales/ adapted self-report scales in machine readable form. This includes preface, question wording, and scale. Finding out how to administer previously used materials should not be a detective tale.

Does anyone have a power simulation handy (must be R) for a multi-level model with random effects for stimuli and random effects for participants? Basically case #6 from PANGEA. Some predictors are continuous so can't just use PANGEA.
