Englishness must be really fragile if it can be destroyed by people speaking another language on a bus, selling Polish food in a supermarket, or making sausage rolls with no meat in them.

And then you read the actual poll and you realise it's really a case of Remainers being intolerant of stupidity, bigotry, racism and the death penalty. Yes. Intelligent people tend to detest those things and people who believe in them.

Just reading about a failing state where the leader is wilfully destroying the economy and refuses to release details of foreign interference and now wants to control which press has access to government briefings and sorry that’s us.

Now here, from Walter's paper, is a representation of most of the protein-protein interactions so far identified that involve axin. In what sense then does the preceding image offer an actual molecular-scale picture? What is "happening" in real time? (3/3 + 1 to come)

Refreshingly honest of the Telegraph to reveal that they weren't reporting news, or informing their readership but rather waging a war against the EU for 40 years.

I've written a blogpost on "Brexit in Historical Perspective". It's a longish read, so here's a summary of the argument. [THREAD]

But the combined picture of weakness compared with forecasts, weakness compared with other countries and weakness compared with history all suggests the Brexit vote has left the UK worse off than it would have been... I think a sensible estimate is about 2 per cent of GDP 8/

Just over a year ago ⁦⁩ visited Norton Motorcycles. He called it a “great business” that would thrive when UK leaves the EU. Norton went into administration two days ago. CEO claims “uncertainties over Brexit” were a major factor in the company’s failure.

I wonder whether Britain's leaders will pause during some god-forsaken solo negotiation with Trump or Xi or Modi in the not-so-distant future and realise that their truest friends had been there, in front of their eyes, all along.
