Taiwan allows people to quarantine at home if they have one. There are some exceptions eg arrivals from UK must go to government quarantine (not hotel).

We have a fine of minimum £1000 and up to £10,000 if people don't quarantine now. The existing measures are stringent enough but there needs to be an ad campaign getting the message across. That would surely be cheaper than a hotel quarantine too.

People argue that quarantine prisons are fair because people may contract the virus in the 72 hours prior to returning to the UK. With that logic everyone who gets a negative test in the UK should also be imprisoned immediately. Either you believe in the test or you don't
