✏️ Work on your side projects
Side projects are more than a presentation.
A side project is about finding and solving a problem as a product manager would!
It can take time, but it will give you the experience you need to close the gap in your resume and apply to roles!

I know an amazing Product Manager who was a pharmacist and became a PM for a health-tech company.
You probably have expertise in an industry or a technology and you can leverage that to join a startup in that industry in a PM role.

💻 Act as a PM on your team
Just because there are no PMs on your team doesn't mean there aren't problems to solve.
Find a problem within your team and make a proposal to solve it like a Product Manager.
This experience will either make you a PM or get you the skills you need.

4. Transfer internally in your company if possible (this can be done!).
If not, volunteer with nonprofits, or find contractor roles at startups.
These experiences will help make up for any gaps in your resume as well as build your network even further!

Read books and articles about product management, and talk to PMs whenever possible (even if it's just over email or messaging).
Practice answering "Why do you want to be a PM?" until you can say it in your sleep.

In your current job, school, or just your daily life, find problems around you that need solving and start working on them!
People love seeing someone who can take initiative so this is a great way to build your experience and portfolio before applying.
