    Yet again petrol duty not rising with inflation. 7th year in a row at a cost now over £6bn a year. Big problem for the Treasury as this big tax looks like it is gradually on the way out.

        I know what you're saying, but the poorest people don't drive. Fewer than half of the households in Glasgow have a car. If the aim is to reduce the tax burden on poorer people, fuel duty is a bad way to go about it.
