I think real problem is he dumbly attached a school shooting angle on top of a potentially interesting story about a group trying to address polarization. When in fact there already IS quite a lot of bipartisan support for gun regulation, even from gun owners/NRA members.

Let’s go back to well-regulated citizen militias, per the Constitution. Join, train, muster for drills and encampments. Then you qualify to own a military-grade weapon. No muster, no musket. The 2A was about states keeping militias instead of professional armies.
